What is water pressure?

Water pressure determines the movement of water throughout your pipes. The amount of water pressure mostly depends on the closet supply. If the water pressure is low in pipes, water will flow slowly out of your taps or shower, or it’ll take more time to fill the sink or bath. Most people will face this problem in their upstairs bathroom.

Testing your water pressure

Before you begin testing your water pressure, you’ll need to grab some essential items such as a 1-litre capacity measuring jug, timer and calculator.

Step 1

Place the measuring jug under the tap or shower that you feel has low water pressure and turn it on fully.

Step 2

Time how long it takes to fill the jug. You have low water pressure if it takes longer than 6 seconds to fill the jug. Your water pressure should allow you to fill at least 10 litres per minute, and it should be around 15 litres for ideal pressure. But in most cases, between 10-15 is fine.

Step 3

If you’ve finished your home water pressure test and now want to solve whatever is causing it, you should call our team of expert plumbers. We can inspect, diagnose and fix any problems fast and efficiently. Our highly experienced team can solve every plumbing issue.
